There is a discrepancy in place of birth between Frodingham and Scunthorpe. The latter is reported by Mathew as his place of birth in the census return for March 1851. Frodingham at that time may have been close to Scunthorpe, and over the years was absorbed by expansion of Scunfhorpe. Frodingham does not appear on current day map.
Notes from Mathew Brays genealogical record.
"My dear brother died February, 1876. (Probaby George)
"May 25th 1873, my poor Bob left me for America." (Bob is believed to be Robert Bray from whom the bulk of the people in this genealogical record are descended.)
"My Bob returned from America , October 18th, 1885."
Observation: It is believed that the time in America which Robert Bray and his family spent, was in Peewaukee, Wisconsin. The author of this genealogy recalls that when a small boy, he overheard grandma Emily Bray recounting a story to other adults of ta time when she was in the States and wanted to make a shirt for grandfather Robert, but didn't know how. So grandfather was made to lie on the floor with arms outstretched on the material for the shirt. Grandma cut out a pattern around him, twice, leaving enough at sides for sewing. This provided gales of laughter from the group and I didn't know why. It seemed to me at the time to be a sensible arrangment.

Robert Bray and Mary Fox were married by Andrew James, Curate (banns). Witnesses, Francis North, Benjamin Kernington.(Village Tailor).
Robert Bray's occupation at time of birth of Sarah is given as "labourer".
In early days a birth was not always registered as to day of birth, but baptism took place very soon after the birth so that the date of birth will not be out more than 7 days.
