Roy Bray

These notes are from "The Bray Family" by Ernest Raymond Collins.

Roy was born in 535 Bannerman Ave in Winnipeg, the same house that the Collins family rented up until the time Grandfather Robert Bray came to live with them. Then they all lived at 492 Landsdowne Ave until Grandfather died.

The following was written by Roy's grandaghter, Kerry Ann Bray on April 11th, 2006.
My Grandfather, Roy Bray Sr. passed away on March 2nd, 1978, in Tacoma, Washington. In 1968 (I believe it was then) he had open heart surgery to correct a congenital hole in his heart. The hole was between the two chambers and was large enough to pass an egg through, thus oxygenated blood was mixing with non-oxygenated blood and his health was becoming seriously compromised. Apparently he was sickly as a child and was late to walk. Despite this he grew to be 6’4” tall and managed to work as a brick mason his entire life. He also dug out the basement in the house they lived in and I have pictures of him building a bathroom addition on to their cabin at Mt. Rainier, Washington. He also liked to bake and I remember visiting them and enjoying fresh baked bread just pulled from the oven.
He was told the surgery would last about 10 years and it did nearly to the day. He was a brick mason and was packing up his truck for his last day on the job before retiring when he had a massive heart attack and died. A neighbor found him and called the fire department who then knocked on the house door to notify my grandmother, Violet
